Prior to Night Market, Visit the Right Market!

As most of you may know, this Thursday evening the Food Trust's Night Market will be delighting Mt. Airy with more than 50 food trucks and restaurants, crafters galore, as well as music to the beat of the band. However, one thing you won't be able to find is some farm fresh produce; don't worry though, the Mt. Airy Village Farmers' Market will have plenty of that!

As usual, the Weavers Way farm out of Awbury Arboretum will be in attendance. Some of the usual fare Weavers has been bringing to market as of late include those heirloom beauties above. If you have not been converted to the religion of the heirloom tomato, please note that there isn't much better than a couple of slices of Green Zebra on some smoked fish on toasted brioche. It might look a little weird but the taste will more than make up for any uncanny color.

Our other market stalwart, Sorbello Girls, will also be in attendance. If you need peaches or nectarines, this is the place to go. Seriously, I don't think I have had a better yellow nectarine in any time I can remember. And for $2.50 for 5 of them? It's heaven in your mouth and in your pocket. Their offerings aren't limited to stone fruit either. You need some long hots? They got it covered. Perhaps some Black Beauty eggplant? Don't even worry about it. And you would be remiss if you didn't pick up their green beans...they might be the best I've ever had.

Over the past few weeks we have been featuring an up and coming musical talent who works at both branches of Weavers Way Co-op, one of our market sponsors. Omar Torrance has been laying it down at market via beat machine and drum kit. If you haven't caught this multi-talented performer yet, here is a sample. You get the full meal at market this week.

Don't forget...before Night Market, check out the right market - right on the corner of Green St. and Carpenter Lane, that is. Food for the mind, the body and the soul...right in the heart of Mt. Airy
